Mark – Therapeutic assistant

My name is Mark, and I have a passion to help people live the best life they possibly can.

I did not discover my calling for helping and understanding people until part way through my first degree in mechanical engineering. After its completion, I have since transitioned into studying Psychology at Flinders University (commencing in 2020).

Having worked as a support worker at Counselling& for over a year and a half, and having completed the first component of my Psychology degree, I am now working as a Therapeutic Assistant at Counselling&. I also work as Youth Mentor, Research Assistant at a Sleep Laboratory and am the executive advisor of the Psychology Students’ Association at Flinders University, after my Presidency in 2022.

I have a diverse range of interests, many of which are in the areas of health, self-development, music, and nature. Specifically, I love being active, reading and learning, playing guitar and getting outdoors to hike as much as a I can. Otherwise, you’ll find me in the veggie garden!

Sarah – Therapeutic Assistant

My name is Sarah, and I am a therapy assistant with Counselling&.

I have a passion for supporting people that has led me to both work and study in the field of mental health; I began working with Counselling& in 2022 and I am currently undertaking my PhD in Clinical Psychology at Flinders University. My thesis is concerned with vicarious trauma, but more generally, I am interested in wellbeing and using mindfulness and connection to bolster mental health. I love working with Counselling& because of the welcoming nature, participant-centred approach, and empowering values practiced by the team.

Outside of study and work, I enjoy reading, practicing meditation and yoga, swimming in the ocean, and going on walks with my dog.

Kirsten – Co-director

My name is Kirsten and I am co-director of Counselling&.

I have worked for many years in disability access and inclusion, aged care and within the NDIS.

I love the Counselling& values of participant-centred care, neuro-affirming practice and providing inclusion and access for all people.

I love to see people engaging with their values and their people within an inclusive environment.

Camino – Support Worker

My name is Camino, and I have a deep passion for helping others in a relational and meaningful way. After graduating high school last year, I began studying at Bible College to build a strong foundation for ministry and personal growth. I love working with people, and I’m grateful to be surrounded by an amazing church family and a supportive work community.
Outside of study and work, you’ll most likely find me being active,
whether it’s playing basketball, surfing, skating, or bouldering. I value
connection, faith, and living life with purpose, both in how I serve others and in how I spend my time

Max – Support Worker

My name is Max, and I care deeply about building genuine connections and supporting people as they navigate daily life and personal growth. I currently work as a support worker and I am also part of the team at Nova Church. I am currently studying a Diploma of Leadership through Bible College, which has helped
develop my communication, teamwork and people-focused skills, and has shaped how I approach care and support with intentionality.
I was drawn into support work because I wanted to be in a role where I could make a real difference in someone’s life. I value taking time to get to know people, understanding what matters to them, and creating a space where they feel heard, respected and encouraged. My approach is grounded in patience, calm support,
and celebrating progress, however big or small.
Outside of work, I enjoy challenging myself physically through running, bouldering and the gym. I also enjoy videography, especially capturing meaningful moments and stories. I really value time with others, whether that’s catching up with friends, being part of community environments, or simply sharing conversation over coffee.
I aim to bring positivity, steadiness and genuine care into the work I do, and I look forward to getting to know you.

Cameron – Support Worker

Hi, I’m Cam. I’ve always been someone who enjoys helping people and being part of their journey. Over the years, I’ve worked in the corporate world, travelled a lot and studied psychology — all of which have helped me understand how important connection, trust and support are in people’s lives. These days, my focus is on using those experiences to make a difference, especially for people dealing with mental and physical health challenges or just needing someone steady and understanding by their side.
Outside of work, I love being outdoors, coaching basketball and getting involved in community and charity projects. I believe small acts of kindness can have a big impact and I bring that belief into everything I do. My approach is calm, genuine, and supportive — I’m here to listen, encourage and help people feel valued and capable.

Laura Letheby – Counsellor & Support Worker

Masters of Counselling and Psychotherapy (Clinical Trauma Practice); member of the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA).

Laura is deeply committed to supporting people to move forward with compassion, authenticity, and respect. With postgraduate studies in Counselling and Psychotherapy, specialising in Clinical Trauma at the University of Adelaide, she brings a strong theoretical foundation and trauma-informed approach to her work.

Drawing from her experience as a Youth Mentor with the Sammy D Foundation, Laura provides person-centred, evidence-based support to children, young people, and adults experiencing a range of psychosocial challenges. Her practice is guided by trauma-informed practices, and strengths-based frameworks across several modalities that empower individuals to connect with their values, build resilience, and enhance wellbeing.

Laura is passionate about diversity and inclusion, and has experience working alongside people with disability, neurodivergent individuals, and those managing mental health conditions. She strives to create safe, empowering spaces that honour each person’s lived experience and foster growth, independence, and belonging.

Outside of work, Laura finds joy and balance through creativity and connection with nature. She loves acrylic painting, graphite drawing, creative writing, and is often inspired by time spent outdoors or with her rescue dog, Bowie (named after one of her favourite musicians, David Bowie). She enjoys listening to artists like Hozier, playing video games like Dragon Age, anything to do with animals, reading fantasy novels with a warm cup of tea in hand, and embracing the simple moments that nurture wellbeing and imagination.’
